The Merseyside club known as Tranmere Rovers may be based in Birkenhead, but their striking badge incorporates several aspects of the surrounding area. Birkenhead sits on the Wirral Penninsula, and the Tranmere Rovers badge contains a crosier (or shepherd’s hook) taken from the Birkenhead crest, a starfish representing Bebington, and two lions in the bottom right to represent Oxton. The single lion in the top left meanwhile ensures that Tranmere Rovers is one of the few clubs in England to display three lions on their crest. And lastly, in the top right, an oak tree can be seen – something that was taken from the Tranmere local board insignia.
