Across the border from last week’s Argentinian offering, comes a badge with a subtle Easter reference for everyone enjoying the long weekend.

Joinville Esporte Club hit the ground running in the Brazilian domestic system. Having formed in 1976, they won the Campeonato Catarinense that year, and went on to win eight it successive times between 1978-1985. This is the state-wide tournament held in the state of Santa Catarina, in Brazil, in which the Chapecoense team also play. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to those affected by the tragic 2016 plane crash involving this Santa Catarina team – Força Chapecoense.

After the slightly eerie rabbit crest of Bangkok Glass F.C. last year at Easter, it was nice to have a badge with a small and yet innocent-seeming rabbit dashing across as we see here with Joinville (perhaps a hurdles sprinter?). If only it were that simple… because it turns out that Joinville Esporte Club also have a rabbit mascot called JEC, which is an acronym of the club’s full name. As you can see in the picture here, Joinville too have a rabbit with a bit of an intense stare going on after all.

From everyone here at Box to Box Football, we hope that you’ve had a lovely Easter weekend!
