logoAs we edge ever closer to the holidays, Box to Box have found one team that really take the biscuit for being, well, Christmassy. They take the turkey, mince pies and sprouts too, in fact. FC Santa Claus formed in 1993 following the amalgamation of the Rovaniemen Reipas and Rovaniemen Lappi football clubs in Finland. The team play in the Kakkonen, the third level of the league system in Finnish football.

It’s hard to argue with the club having Santa Claus himself on their badge – the Finnish city of Rovaniemi, where the side come from, sits right by the Arctic Circle. In fact if you visited there you could go to the Santa Claus Village, known as his official home where you have the opportunity to go and meet Santa Claus yourself. And what could be more Christmassy than that? Wear a coat though, the temperature in Rovaniemi this morning is around -6 °C…

From everyone at Box to Box Football, we wish you a very Merry Christmas, a happy holidays, and a great New Year!
