Dundalk F.C.’s badge features three mythical martlets, inspired by Dundalk town’s coat of arms. A martlet is a small bird, usually depicted without feet and, in some cases, without a beak, depending on the country which is depicting it. The team play their home games at the 4,500 capacity Oriel Park in County Louth, Ireland.
At the start of the current 2016-17 season, Dundalk F.C. came within one game of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, after heroic wins over Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar and BATE Borisov. Sadly it was not to be for the Irish club, as they were knocked into the UEFA Europa League after defeat to reigning Polish domestic league champions, Legia Warsaw.
