From the League of Ireland Premier Division, this week we look at Cork City F.C. The club was formed in 1984, but the badge currently adorning the shirts of the Cork players has been present for almost a decade.

The prominent features of the badge are a ship passing between two towers. This can be directly linked to the Cork coat of arms, which displays the two towers that once guarded the entrance to the port of Cork, along with a ship in the centre. Previous iterations of the Cork City F.C. badge even included the city motto, ‘Statio Bene Fide Carinis‘, which translates to, ‘a safe harbour for ships’.
