This programme was brought to you by 1 Shilling as part of The Away End. Curated by Matthew Caldwell, 1 Shilling is an exquisite collection of football programmes from a humbler time, with every single one carrying it’s own unique story. The more Bovril stains, the better.

Dundee Utd. vs. Dunfermline

24th August 1968 / Scottish League Cup (Section 3) / No. 1346, Designed & Published by Impact Press Features, Dundee / Printed By John Durham & Son Ltd, Dundee

John Durham came to Dundee in 1835 to set up a printing business at 49 High Street, later moving to Argyll’s Close, and eventually passed the business onto his son James when he died in 1877. James’ son William continued the family passion for print; keenly interested in papermaking and the chemistry of paper, he was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. An important programme personally, this is the first game my Dad saw, aged 15, who has held a season ticket at Aston Villa now for 50 years.
